Happy January 1, 2020! We spent the evening in our pajamas on the couch while watching Downton Abbey. It was a relaxing evening and I am grateful for the simplicity of it.

These past few months I have noticed that my style is evolving. While shopping, I am definitely reaching for more classic and timeless pieces to add to my wardrobe. I know that is the direction I will be heading into towards the New Year.

In this case, I have styled a notable houndstooth patterned jersey blazer. I have always loved the looked of blazers, but I always have had troubles styling them in the past. I think I have finally gotten the hang of it! I know this look will definitely be repeated time and time ago in the future!

As you may already know, I am a third grade elementary school teacher. It has been my vocational dream to be a teacher since I was in third grade myself. I am now in my third year of having my own classroom and I have definitely learned a thing or two.

When I rebranded my blog several months ago, I wanted to share more about my life and my passions. Blogging has always been a passion of mine because I love styling clothes. Several weeks ago, I decided that I wanted to start sharing more of my teacher wardrobe and outfits.

Obviously, when your Apple Watch indicates that you log over 10,000+ per day at your job, comfort is key. Comfort aside though, I still want to look cute and stylish. The pictures above showcase a typical outfit you will find me in: comfy cotton top, midi skirt, and extremely comfortable shoes.

Even though I am labeling these looks as “Trendy Teacher Looks,” they are outfits for everyone–not only teachers. If you are a teacher though, I hope this series provides you with some inspiration to amp up your teacher wardrobe.

We had two Christmas parties this weekend, so the Ortlund household is definitely all partied out. We have two more this upcoming weekend, which means I have another party outfit to plan.

Alas, the perfect party dress has been found! This leopard print slip dress is an absolute stunner. I definitely styled my look a little more fabulous, but this dress can also be styled with an adorable pair of comfy flats and a chunky cardigan for a more causal party look.

I hope this holiday party season is full of love, laughter, and delicious food for you!

Today I am sharing my top best selling items that I have styled this week. I am not shocked that these were best sellers because they are some of my favorite items, too! Without further-ado, here they are!

(1) J.Crew Camel Colored Winter Coat: This is my favorite coat to layer with a cozy sweater! I purchased it two years ago and have worn it so many times since then.  This was by far my top selling item this week and many of you picked it up since it is majorly marked down!

(2) Silky Ruffled-Hem Midi Dress: I wore this dress to a recent blogger event and you all went nuts over it! It is the perfect holiday party dress and it is super flattering. It also comes in a couple other colors, but I wore the “Terracotta Red” color.

(3) Bubble Gum Pink Apple Watch Band: I was way overdue for a new Apple Watch band and I ordered this one to wear during my Half-Marathon. It is under $10 and adjustable.

(4) Gold Layered Kendra Scott Necklace: This is by far my most worn necklace of the year. It went on sale recently and you all took advantage of it! It looks adorable styled with sweaters, dresses, causal outfits, and more!

Thankful Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

For this Thanksgiving, I wanted to spread gratitude and thankfulness by sharing a list of things I am thankful for! On this Thanksgiving holiday, I encourage you to sit down and make your list of gratitude 🙂

1. I am thankful for such a supportive husband. I still do not know how I got so lucky to have such an amazing, loving, and caring other-half. I am truly blessed!

2. I am thankful for my supportive family. I do not know what I would do without my mom, dad, sisters, and in-laws.

3. I am thankful that light usually follows darkness. If you heard, two weeks ago there was a shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, CA. Sadly, that was my high school and it is the high school that my little sister will attend in two years. Even though high school was rough for me, I still spent four formative years there. It was shocking to say the least. That being said, light has definitely followed darkness. It is amazing to see how the community has come together and grown strong after such a tragedy.

4. I am thankful for a warm cup of coffee on a Saturday morning.

5. I am thankful for the ability to run and workout. Earlier this month, I ran a half marathon. It was so encouraging to see so many people use their bodies to do something amazing! We are truly capable of so much, especially when we put our minds to it!

6. I am thankful for this amazing community that is centered around The Teacup of Style. I have seen growth with my blog this year, that I haven’t seen in the past couple years. I was even invited to my first major blogging event–and I had the time of my life!!

7. I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so excited for the upcoming holiday season so that we can celebrate his birth! It is truly my favorite time of the year.

8. I am thankful to be in my third year of teaching. In third grade, I decided that I wanted to be a teacher. Ironically enough, I am now in my third year of teaching third grade. It definitely is not an easy job, but I am thankful to have twenty-five little kiddos to teach and guide each day. It truly is a job that I do not take lightly.

What are you thankful for? Take the time to reflect upon all of you have and are blessed with! 🙂

Flattering Holiday Dress

My Outfit Details: DRESS Holiday Green Dress // EARRINGS Stone Studded Earrings // SHOES Suede Heels

The holiday season is upon us, and I couldn’t be more excited. We will be putting up our Christmas tree this week. Christmas sugar cookies are in the plan. Bright lights are starting to pop up around our street.  I am literally in H.E.A.V.E.N.

Much like everyone else, I have started to hunt around for the perfect holiday attire. In my searching, I found the best Christmas party/dinner/event dress. It is beyond flattering. I feel as if I can eat dozens of yummy dinner rolls and no one will notice. The material is also so stretchy and comfy–the perfect combo!

This month, I will make sure to share any other holiday outfits I stumbled upon. I’ve got your back, gurl!

I finished my first half marathon last weekend! See below for the picture that proves it 🙂

These past few months I have learned so much about myself throughout the training process. I learned that can I can persevere during my long training runs, even after a long and exhausting day of teaching. I also learned to not be so hard on myself . . . and that it is okay to skip a training run some days to take a two hour nap.

I am definitely on a running high. I am signing up for my second half marathon in January. Here goes nothing! 🙂
